Installing Inspectlet with WordPress
The Inspectlet WordPress plugin is the easiest way to add Inspectlet to your WordPress site. Just install the plugin, enter your Website ID (WID), and you're done — no code editing required.
Install the Plugin
There are three ways to install the plugin:
From the WordPress Plugin Directory (recommended):
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin
- Search for "Inspectlet"
- Click Install Now on the Inspectlet plugin
- Click Activate
Upload manually:
- Download the plugin zip from the WordPress Plugin Directory
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin
- Choose the zip file and click Install Now
- Click Activate
Enter Your Website ID
After activation, you'll be automatically redirected to the Inspectlet settings page (Settings > Inspectlet).
- Log into your Inspectlet Dashboard and copy your Website ID (WID) — it's the number shown next to your site name
- Paste the WID into the Inspectlet Website ID field on the settings page
- Click Save Changes
That's it — Inspectlet is now live on your site and will start recording sessions immediately.
How It Works
The plugin automatically injects the Inspectlet tracking snippet into the <head> of every page on your site. The snippet loads asynchronously, so it won't slow down your site. It only runs on the public-facing pages of your site (not inside the WordPress admin area).
Check if it's installed correctly
To verify that Inspectlet is installed and working, append ?inspectlet_diagnostics=true to any page URL on your site to bring up the diagnostics console.
Updating or Removing
- To update your WID, go to Settings > Inspectlet and change the Website ID
- To stop tracking, deactivate the plugin from Plugins > Installed Plugins
- To fully remove, delete the plugin — all settings are automatically cleaned up
